C. Ralph & Associates – Covid-19 Update

Dear valued client,

At C. Ralph & Associates, we pride ourselves on meaningful community engagement and on serving the needs of local businesses and individuals alike. This week places us all in a time of uncertainty. In light of Covid-19, we are reaching out to keep you informed of updates to our office policies and procedures, and to provide a summary of key points from Canada’s economic response plan released this week.

While our office remains open, we have implemented the following procedural changes until further notice to support the well being of our clients, staff, and community at large:

  • Our office will be running regular hours Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm (holidays may affect regular operating hours)

  • All in office/person meetings will now be done by email, phone, or video conferencing as we have restricted face to face meetings at our office
  • Any information being provided to us should either be scanned and emailed, mailed or sent by courier.
  • We are requesting that clients do not come to our office to drop off information; however, if required, there is a mail slot at our back door or a secure drop-box at our main office door on the third floor (please clearly label your documents)

  • Canada Revenue Agency is accepting electronic signatures; therefore, we will accept scanned signed documents and we will be implementing Docusign as an alternative option

  • We will endeavor to complete our engagements on a timely basis and to facilitate that we will only be processing deliverables in electronic format, to be followed up later with hard copies if requested

The Government of Canada has extended the due date for tax returns from April 30th to June 1st, but we are asking clients to not wait to submit their paperwork.

In addition, the government has announced that those who owe money will have until July 31st to pay off those amounts and not incur interest.  As for social benefits, items such as GST credits, Child Tax Benefits and the Guaranteed Income Supplement are all tied to your tax filing; therefore, you still want to have your return filed as soon as possible in order to continue these benefits.  In turn, we are striving to continually process your returns as soon as possible.

Above you will find attached an article by C. Ralph & Associates, ‘Canada Covid-19 Economic Response Plan – Key Points,’ which we hope will provide a valuable summary for your information and planning.  In addition to the attached document, here is a chart released by Canada Revenue Agency (https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/news/2020/03/canadas-covid-19-economic-response-plan-support-for-canadians-and-businesses.html) outlining the cost/impact and implementation time frame for the measures in the response plan:

It is critical that we do our part to adapt to national and provincial guidelines during this time communal need.

We are confident that these adapted policies will allow us to work seamlessly with minimal, if any, business disruption so as to honor our commitment to you.  Thank you in advance for supporting our interim policies and for your patience as we navigate this unprecedented challenge.

On behalf of all of us at C. Ralph & Associates, we also wish to express our gratitude to the healthcare workers working so hard under difficult circumstances.

If you have any questions in regards to our policies or in regards to how the relief package applies to you, please do not hesitate to contact myself or anyone on our team.
